My Sister's Keeper
I was not very excited to read this book. I had seen parts of the movie and wasnt intrigued and other people have told me it wasnt too good either. However, after starting this book while i am not entirely into it and dont get excited to read it i am surprised at how much better it is than i thought it would. While the story is unique and presents a morale dilemma i just cant quite get into it completely. I do like how the story is told. I like that we can see all the different perspectives of the characters excluding Kate. i think it provides great insight into their opinions and works really well. I particularly like to read about Brian and Jesse. I like Brian's character because he seems to know everything thats going on around him and accepts it for what it is and does what he can to help even though he is a little less opinionated and is almost a 100% observer at times. Jesse is interesting to read about because he appears to be "the lost cause." I like having his view of everything because at first you really dont get much of him and then you see why he is how he is and how he interacts with the family. One character i cannot get over is Sara. At times i want to go into the story and just yell at her. She gets me frustrated with how blind she is to her other children and even Brian. While Kate does need some extra attention she is completely ignoring everything else around her. Overall im liking this story more than i originally thought and am hoping Sara has a scene where she realizes what she is doing and changes.

Hey, I’m totally with you on not being very excited to read this book. I heard it was good, it’s just not the kind of book I ‘m usually into. I don’t really like reading about hospitals and all that, it makes me sick to my stomach. I also like how the story is told in every ones different point of views. I really like Jesse’s character too, he seems to be the rebel and when he’s the one telling the story it always keeps me on edge. I also like that he’d always there for Anna because it doesn’t seem like the rest of the family is. I hope that Sarah does realize how poorly she’s treating the rest of her family and how controlling/manipulative she’s acting. Hopefully Sarah changes how she’s acting, It is important that she’s there for Kate but she needs to be spending time with her other too children and her husband as well.
ReplyDeleteSo I was excited to read this book, because quite a few of my friends had read it and enjoyed it very much. I also like how the story is told from different people's points of view. It allows you to get to know each of their characters better and see how they think and act. Also, the frequent switch keeps things interesting and changing and doesn't get boring. I like Brian as well, he seems smart and level headed. I like that you think Jesse is interesting, because I feel like he is as well. I always tend to root for the underdog, and I would love if he did something to turn his life around or perhaps just something that made his parents pay attention or be proud of him. I really don't think he is that bad...or at least I want to believe that deep down inside he has a big heart. My favorite part of the book so far has been what he did for Anna at the hospital. The extents he went to in that chapter speak volumes about his true character, and his love for Anna. I don't quite understand why he sets fires yet, and I look forward to the book explaining more/ going more in-depth about what is really behind his acts of arsiney. I really don't want to right off Sara, but I cannot agree ( along with alot of people) how she is neglecting Jesse and Anna. I too hope that in the future she realizes what she is doing before it is too late.
